About Padel Balls

How long do padel balls last?

It depends how hard you're playing and what the weather is like. Typically, padel balls last longer in dry conditions than in the wet. On the professional World Padel Tour, balls are changed after the first nine games and then after every seven. But in amateur play, your padel balls should give you a good game for several matches in dry conditions.

What is a padel ball made of?

Padel balls are made of compressed rubber that's formed into a sphere. A felt coating is glued on, then the balls are filled with air to the correct pressure and sealed to maintain it.

What's the difference between a padel ball and a pickleball?

There's a big difference between a padel ball and the balls used for the game of pickleball. Padel balls are very similar to tennis balls in appearance, but slightly smaller. Pickleball balls are made from hard, moulded plastic with evenly spaced holes all over. They're hollow inside. Balls for outdoor pickleball play are slightly larger and heavier than indoor balls.

What size is a padel ball?

A padel ball is between 6.35 and 6.77 centimetre in diameter - they are slightly smaller than tennis balls.

What ball is used in padel?

Padel players use a ball that looks and feel similar to a tennis ball. It's bouncy, usually bright yellow in colour, and it's made of rubber and felt. Amateur players usually need to have three balls available in a match, so they're often sold in tubes of three.

What is the difference between a padel ball vs tennis ball?

Padel balls are slightly smaller and slightly less pressurised than tennis balls, so they don't bounce quite as much. They are very similar in appearance, with a felted outside and white seams, with the maker's logo stamped on the felt.
