Racketball racket weight
Racketball rackets are generally categorised by weight, which has a significant effect on your power, control, and manoeuvrability:
Heavyweight rackets (>185 grams): These rackets are ideal for players who want to generate maximum power from the back of the court. The extra weight behind the ball helps to drive powerful shots and is excellent for those who rely on a solid, deliberate swing.
Medium weight rackets (170−185 grams): Offering a fantastic middle ground, these racketball rackets provide a great balance of power and control. They're versatile and can adapt to various playing styles, making them a popular choice for all-round players.

Racketball racket balance
This means how the weight is distributed. Just like with weight, this can dramatically change how the racket feels to play with.
Head-heavy: With more of the weight concentrated in the head, a head-heavy racketball racket helps increase swing speed and power. They're a good choice for players who want to hit with more force, especially from the back of the court.
Head-light: In a head-light racket, the weight is focused in the handle. This makes the racketball racket feel lighter and incredibly easy to manoeuvre, which is ideal for quick, deceptive shots and fast front-court play.
Even balance: An even-balanced racket provides the best of both worlds, offering a perfect blend of power and control. This makes them a great all-purpose choice for players who don't want to commit to one end of the spectrum.
Choosing a racket by player level
Picking a racketball racket that's right for your skill level is vital for developing your game.
Beginner rackets: For new players, the goal is often to find a racket that is forgiving and helps generate power easily. A head-heavy, medium-to-heavyweight racket (>175 grams) is often the best choice. This combination provides the stability and power you need to get the ball to the back of the court without requiring a perfect swing.
