About Padel Accessories

What equipment is needed for padel?

The basic kit you need is a padel racket and balls, along with some trainers suitable for outdoor racket sports and some comfortable sports clothing. But once you've been bitten by the padel bug, we reckon you'll want to top up your padel kit. A padel bag is a practical choice: you can keep rackets, balls, clothing and extras in it. A water bottle will keep you hydrated and a peaked cap can shade your eyes from the sun, if you're lucky enough to be playing in bright weather! Overgrips are useful to pad out and adjust the size of you racket grip.

How thick should your padel grip be?

The thickness of your grip is partly personal preference - a more padded grip may be more comfortable but with less padding, you may feel you have more control. In terms of the width, padel coaches usually advise that when you wrap your hand round the racket handle to grip it, there should be a finger's width between your top fingers and the bottom of your palm. If they are too close together, an extra overgrip will help increase the circumference of the handle. The bigger your hand, the more you may need.

What accessories can you use to protect your racket?

A padel bag is the best place the store, carry and protect your padel racket. A specially designed padel bag will have a compartment shaped to hold a padel racket and hold it securely. You could also choose a generic racket sports bag - they may have straps or ties to hold different sized rackets in place. You can also get padel specific protection tape to apply your racket to protect it against any clashes with the walls.

What brands are the best picks for padel accessories?

Most of the leading racket sports brands make accessories either designed just for padel, or that are suitable for padel as well as other racket sports. There are also specialist padel brands like Bullpadel and Nox. Adidas , Babolat , Dunlop and Tecnifibre have padel rackets, balls, tape and overgrips and a massive range of clothing and shoes that are great for padel as well as tennis and similar sports.
