About Tennis Bags

You can carry up to fifteen rackets in our largest tennis bags - or pick a more compact style that's ideal for one or more rackets. All the tennis bags in our hand-picked selection are stylish, practical, easy to use, durable and designed to keep your tennis rackets in optimal condition.

What are tennis bags made of?

Most tennis bags are made of synthetic materials, like polyester. They often have webbing handles or carry straps. Tennis bags need to be hard-wearing and strong, with tough seams and stitching that stand up to a full load of tennis kit inside! Tennis bags are often coated to make them waterproof - a valuable attribute if you are carrying your tennis kit around from home or club to the court, and you're not fortunate enough to live in a climate where it never rains.

What kind of tennis bag should I get?

It depends what you want to put inside your tennis bag and how you'll be carrying it. The main styles are racket bags, backpacks and duffle bags (some people would call these holdalls). If you mostly travel to the court by car, a roomy duffle bag is easy to pack up and stow in the boot. It gives you the maximum space to fit all your kit in, from rackets and shoes to clothing, water bottles, snacks and other essentials. If you're travelling on foot, by bike or by public transport, a backpack is often more lightweight and leaves your hands free. Racket bags will protect your rackets - there may be additional space for balls and other small items.

What makes a good tennis bag?

A good tennis bag has room for everything you want to carry, is comfortable to carry and protects your belongings in transit and at the court. It will also ideally but hard-wearing and last you for years. Choose a large duffle bag or holdall if you want to take a lot of kit with you. Opt for a backpack if you're travelling light and want to keep your hands free. A racket bag is good if you have more than one racket and mainly want to transport your rackets safely, with just a few extra items packed alongside. Think about the straps - do you prefer to carry a bag over one shoulder or is a rucksack more comfortable and balanced for you? As you'll hopefully be keeping your quality tennis bag for several seasons, choose a style and colourway the you enjoy. We look for bags that have a zipped pocket for storing small items like keys, and some compartments, so you can keep food and drink separate from clothes, shoes and rackets, for example.

Can badminton bags be used for tennis?

A specially designed badminton racket bag won't be any good for tennis rackets - the shapes and sizes are too different. But if you have a multisports bag that you use for badminton, you may be able to use it for tennis as well. The main difference between tennis bags and badminton bags is in the racket compartment: tennis rackets have larger heads, thicker handles and weigh more than most badminton rackets.

Can you use a duffle bag for tennis?

You can use any bag you like to carry your tennis kit, including a duffle bag. But if you want to carry rackets as well as other sports kit and belongings, you'll need to make sure your duffle bag is long and wide enough to hold your tennis racket. Check that your racket will be protected enough in your duffle bag - either in a separate racket compartment or padded pocket, This will avoid damage from other belongings catching in the strings or scaping the fame. We recommend a specialist tennis duffle bag to keep your kit and rackets safely stowed and easy to access when you need them.

What tennis bags do tennis pros use?

When you see tennis pros coming on to the court, they're often carrying a huge bag. That's because they'll use more than one racket during a match and they want to be sure they have all the choice they need. Tennis pros often choose a racket bag with space for  or even 15 rackets! All these players carry tennis bags provided and branded by their sponsors.

What do tennis players carry in their bags?

Tennis bags are designed to hold rackets, balls, tennis shoes, sportswear, sweat towels, water bottles and snack. Professionals tennis players may carry as many as 15 rackets in their tennis bags. They sometimes need an extra backpack to git other accessories and supplies in. The more spare equipment and extra items a tennis player want to carry, the bigger the bag they need.
