How to choose a Yonex Badminton Racket
Check out our handy guide on how to choose the best Yonex badminton racket for your game.
With lots of Yonex badminton rackets on the market, it can be tricky to find the perfect racket. This guide will help you tell the difference between the each of the ranges and models in the latest line up!
Within each racket range, Yonex tend to do four versions:
Play - are the most flexibile rackets in the range, ideal for beginner players who have a slower overhead action so are aided by the increased flexibility. These rackets are made in China
Game - are a flexible/medium flexibility designed for club players with a better technique but still looking for increased forgivness. These are made in Taiwan
Tour - these rackets tend to be medium to stiff flexibility which makes them a great choice for intermediate players who hit with more speed and need a racket to react as quickly as they do. This range is made in Taiwan
Pro - the stiffest rackets in the range, as used by the advanced and professional players who need very little whipback from the racket in order to produce maximum power. These premium rackets are made in Japan
There are four main categories of badminton racket weights namely 2U (approx. 92grams), 3U (approx. 87g), 4U (approx. 83g) and 5U (approx. 78g), however most of the rackets we stock are 3U or 4U. The weight of racket is a personal choice. A heavier racket will give you more power, whereas a lighter racket will be easier to manouevre. For beginner players we recommend a lighter weight racket which is easier on the arm whilst you develop your technique.
